AICV® Gas

The AICV® Gas prototype is designed for shutting-off liquid production (water and condensate) in gas wells.

The AICV® was originally designed for shutting-off gas in oil wells. However, the autonomous inflow technology has been modified (ie: turned around so that the valve is designed to open for gas yet shut-off liquid production (water and condensate) within gas wells. Prototype is in development.

A number of gas fields produce water, which requires hydrate control in subsea flow lines by means of continuous MEG injection. In most cases, liquid production may result in wells being shut down early resulting in less gas production than expected. Hence there is potentially considerable value in being able to delay the onset of water production or preferably to shut off water breakthrough altogether – exactly what the Gas AICV® is designed to do.

InflowControl has established a research, design and qualification program for the Gas AICV®, but is not commercially available yet.
